Completion of NordicEpi 2024
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the 11th Nordic Conference of Epidemiology and Register-Based Health Research (NordicEpi) in Copenhagen, which gathered 400 participants not only from the Nordic countries, but globally. This conference was proudly hosted by our board at the Danish Epidemiological Society in collaboration with the Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen. The NordicEpi 2024 included preconference workshops, plenary keynote talks from Naja Hulvej Rod, Mika Kivimaki, Sonia Hernández-Díaz, Laura Howe, and Kenneth Rothman, parallel sessions based on submitted abstracts and symposia, poster presentations, and social activities – including a welcome reception at Copenhagen City Hall with pancakes and a dinner at Kayak Bar. Early career researchers were a central focus, with activities designed to foster their involvement, including a poster tour and competition for a keynote talk. The conference received more than 250 abstracts and 5 organized symposia, all of which underwent a peer-review by two independent, blinded reviewers. Anne Helby Petersen from the University of Copenhagen, won the Early Career Researcher award and gave her insightful keynote talk with the title “Constructing causal life course models: Comparing data-driven and theory-drives approaches”. The poster tour and competition included 10 selected participants who signed up for the early career researcher competition. The awarding of Best Poster Presentation honors; Sofia Hammerstrand from Sahlgrenska University Hospital and University of Gothenburg was awarded 1st place, Penelope Gray from Karolinska Institutet was given 2nd place, and Danni Chen from Aarhus University was granted 3rd place. Congratulations to them for their exemplary work and thank you for these contributions to the conference.
