The Danish Epidemiological Society (DES) and the University of Copenhagen welcome you to the 11th Nordic Conference of Epidemiology and Register-Based Health Research (NordicEpi).
The NordicEpi is organized biennially by the Nordic societies of epidemiology and rotates between the Nordic countries. The population-based registers in the Nordic countries provide unique opportunities for epidemiological research. The conference brings together researchers, students, and epidemiological professionals to meet, network, share their research, participate in scientific discussions, and develop new collaborations.
The NordicEpi 2024 will include pre-conference workshops, keynote talks, symposia, and social activities. We have distinguished invited keynote speakers lined up for you. Keynote talks and pre-conference courses will cover a variety of exciting themes in contemporary epidemiology including complexity epidemiology, life course epidemiology, causal inference in social epidemiology, target trials, measuring the burden of disease and more. Additionally, the program includes parallel sessions on various epidemiological topics based on submitted abstracts. Abstracts from all sub-disciplines of epidemiology and register-based health research are welcome for submission. We also welcome submission of symposia organised by participants.
Young researchers will have ample opportunity to network at social events, add new tools to their epidemiological toolbox, and disseminate their own research through oral or poster presentation. Pre-conference courses are held by experts within their field. Abstracts submitted by young researchers will be part of an early career researcher competition with a plenary talk for the winner.
The conference website is updated continuously with further information, so please check back. Call for abstracts and symposia opens in November 2023.

Completion of NordicEpi 2024
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the 11th Nordic Conference of Epidemiology and Register-Based Health Research (NordicEpi) in Copenhagen, which gathered 400 participants not only from the Nordic countries, but globally. This conference was proudly hosted by our board at the Danish Epidemiological Society in collaboration with the Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen. The NordicEpi 2024 included preconference workshops, plenary keynote talks from Naja Hulvej Rod, Mika Kivimaki, Sonia Hernández-Díaz, Laura Howe, and Kenneth Rothman, parallel sessions based on submitted abstracts and symposia, poster presentations, and social activities – including a welcome reception at Copenhagen City Hall with pancakes and a dinner at Kayak Bar.
Early career researchers were a central focus, with activities designed to foster their involvement, including a poster tour and competition for a keynote talk. The conference received more than 250 abstracts and 5 organized symposia, all of which underwent a peer-review by two independent, blinded reviewers. Anne Helby Petersen from the University of Copenhagen, won the Early Career Researcher award and gave her insightful keynote talk with the title “Constructing causal life course models: Comparing data-driven and theory-drives approaches”. The poster tour and competition included 10 selected participants who signed up for the early career researcher competition. The awarding of Best Poster Presentation honors; Sofia Hammerstrand from Sahlgrenska University Hospital and University of Gothenburg was awarded 1st place, Penelope Gray from Karolinska Institutet was given 2nd place, and Danni Chen from Aarhus University was granted 3rd place. Congratulations to them for their exemplary work and thank you for these contributions to the conference.
Thank you to all participants, speakers, pre-conference workshop instructors, external and internal reviewers, volunteers, and to the Norwegian Epidemiological Association for their generous financial support. Your contributions have been indispensable!
